Alberta Mother of Five Identified as Victim of Murder-Suicide

RCMP in Fort Saskatchewan is investigating following an apparent murder-suicide in the small Alberta community.

Officers in the community responded to a report of shots fired on October 2nd at a home on Alderson Close. Police have released few details about the incident, only confirming that two people were found dead in the home and that there is no risk to public safety. But one of the victims has been identified as Colleen Sillito, a mother of five children.

Sillito’s boyfriend Michael Cameron has publicly spoken about the tragic death. According to Cameron, his girlfriend left his house around 5:30 a.m. to teach a yoga class but never made it. Her body was found in the west-side home at around 6:20 a.m. Describing Sillito as someone full of energy and life, Cameron has produced a photo montage of the happy couple together.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Sillito was murdered by her ex-boyfriend, but police are not yet commenting.

“Her legacy will live on I can assure you of that. If there is something you are waiting for ‘the right time’ to do she would tell you to get off your ass and do it because you just never know what life has in store,” said Cameron on social media.

Cameron said the outpouring of support has been overwhelming as he tries to cope with the sudden tragedy, but has remained positive as he struggles with the loss.

“My ask of you today is simply hold a door for someone, smile at someone, notice the name of the person that served you coffee at Tim Hortons or do a kind act for someone and think of her. Knowing she has caused a few extra acts of kindness in a cruel world will make her smile,” said Cameron.
