British Columbia’s minimum wage currently sits at $11.35, which is the sixth highest in Canada.
On April 1, however, B.C. will slip down to eighth in the ranks, as six provinces or territories are increasing their minimum wage and two of them will leapfrog B.C.
The following provinces and territories will see a minimum wage increase on April 1:
British Columbians won’t have to wait too much longer for a minimum wage increase, as the province will be taking a major jump later this spring.
On June 1, the minimum wage in B.C. will move from the current $11.35 to $12.65, which is nothing to scoff at.
That is the first move in the government’s plan to get the minimum wage to $15.20 by June 1, 2021.
