Less than 24 hours after British Columbia unveiled its restart plan, Alberta has done the same.
The Open for Summer Plan is a three-stage roadmap to fully reopen the province by early July.
“Albertans have stopped the spike and now we can start safely lifting restrictions so we can have a truly great Alberta summer,” tweeted Premier Jason Kenney.

All current health restrictions remain in place right now, but thanks to active cases going down and vaccination rates going up, Alberta will enter Stage 1 of its journey to normalcy on June 1.
Here’s what Stage 1 will look like:
Stage 2 is expected to begin in mid-June and it will officially kick in two weeks after 60% of Albertans over the age of 12 have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Hospitalizations will also need to be below 500 and declining.
Here’s what Stage 2 will look like:
Finally, the Province expects to reach Stage 3 in early July, which will kick into effect two weeks after 70% of Albertans over the age of 12 have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Stage 3 will see all restrictions lifted, including the ban on indoor social gatherings, but isolation requirements for confirmed cases of COVID-19 and some protective measures in care settings will remain.
