The Calgary Police Service (CPS) has closed the book on a 16-year-old murder case, one that went cold in 2005.
Now Kenneth Dauphinais, 43, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his ex-wife, Terrie Ann Dauphinais.
Terrie Ann, who was 24-years-old at the time of her death, was found dead in her northwest Calgary home on April 29, 2002.
Her three young children were found alive inside when police arrived and based on evidence at the scene, investigators believed the person responsible was familiar with the home.
Kenneth wasn’t living at the residence at the time, but was considered a person of interest throughout the investigation.
Although the case did go cold in 2005, new information was brought to light in August 2017, which led to the case being reviewed.
Over the last nine months, investigators gathered the appropriate evidence to arrest Kenneth and charge him with second-degree murder.
He’ll appear in court next on Friday.
