Canada has been ranked the second-best country in the world by a report compiled in the US.
Switzerland beat the Great White North to remain at the top of the rankings, published in US News and World Report.
Canada, though, is gaining on the European nation – last year, it came third.
The 2020 Best Countries report is based on global perceptions and indicators of prosperity.
Each of the 73 countries was scored on 65 attributes based on a collection of survey responses, with national attributes grouped into nine subrankings (Adventure, Citizenship, Cultural Influence, Entrepreneurship, Heritage, Movers, Open for Business, Power and Quality of Life).
It was developed by BAV Groups and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Canada
Japan
Germany
Australia
United Kingdom
United States
Sweden
Netherlands
Norway
Canada’s main strengths were Citizenship, Quality of Life, Entrepreneurship and ease of doing business.
It ranked lowest on Heritage, Power and speed of growth.
In the Quality of Life category, it ranked first.
