UPDATE: Authorities recover half of the $500K worth of the beer that was stolen earlier this month

(UPDATE: April 25 @ 5 p.m.) - It’s the type of crime that keeps you awake at night.

Thieves stealing three delivery trucks and making off with $500,000 worth of beer, beef jersey and pepperoni sticks.

It’s exactly what happened in Quebec earlier this month, but the good news is that some of that precious cargo has now been recovered.

The Longueuil Metropolitan Police Service revealed today that they had recovered 11,000 cases of the Grolsch beer that was stolen on April 5.

That’s more than half of the 20,000 cases that were stolen.

The booty was found in a warehouse in LaSalle, about a 40 minute drive from Longueuil.

In addition to the recovered alcohol, two men were arrested in the process and are now facing charges.

Sadly, none of the missing Jack Link’s beef jerky or pepperoni sticks were recovered in this bust.

(Original story: April 5 @ 2 p.m.) - If anyone tries to give you a great deal on large quantities of beer or meat, call the cops.

Police in Longueuil, Que. are on the hunt for thieves who stole $500,000 worth of Grolsch beer, Jack Link’s beef jerky and Jack Link’s pepperoni sticks.

In total, 20,000 cases of beer and an undisclosed amount of meat went missing from three delivery trucks that were stolen from Boucherville.

The trucks were later found empty and abandoned in Montreal.

It’s been nearly a month since the March 12 theft, but police in Longueuil made an appeal to the public for help today.

They fear the thieves may be trying to liquidate the beer, jerky and pepperoni in small amounts and are warning the public about purchasing products illegally.
