A spokeswoman for Global Affairs Canada confirmed the death, but declined to give further details for privacy reasons.

It’s unconfirmed, but local media reports that the victim is Spencer Charles of Trail, B.C.

According to the Bangkok Post, the cable of the zipline disconnected shortly after he was released from the platform.

He fell around 100-metres into the creek below and did not survive the fall.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing and the man’s father is on his way to Thailand to repatriate his son’s body.
