A heroic dog is missing after it helped save four lives.
The dog, Bella, is being credited with alerting its family to a fire that was tearing through a luxury bed-and-breakfast in southern Quebec.
Family member Ely Conway had just returned from walking Bella and another dog, Moka, on Tuesday night when she heard a muffled alarm.
The dogs immediately bolted towards the sound and started barking, leading Conway to call 911.
Since the building’s alarms hadn’t all sounded yet, Bella and Moka’s early warning helped alert four occupants in the building and allow them to escape the fire.
However, Bella got scared during the fire and ran away as flames ripped through the retreat in Sutton, about 110 kilometres southeast of Montreal.
She’s now missing and her owner, the daughter of the building’s owner, has published a social media post pleading for help to find her.
Barbara Bedkowski says the heroic three-year-old dog is a mixed breed that looks a bit like a husky.
