Introducing Canada's largest Ferris Wheel

Sure, it's not the most wild ride at amusement parks, but it gets top marks for being the ride that even your grandma and your little brother can hop onto and say they were there.

Every amusement park or travelling fair has a Ferris Wheel, but no one else in Canada will have one has big as this, according to La Grande Roue de Montreal.

If you're planning some cross-country Canada 150 trips this summer, you might want to add Montreal to your list.

This summer, Montreal will open the highest Ferris Wheel in Canada. It ranks third highest Ferris Wheel in the U.S., with the highest U.S. Ferris Wheel located in Las Vegas, Nevada and operating at a height of 167.6 metres, making it the highest in the world.

La Grande Roue de Montreal gives you a 60-metre high (20-story building) panoramic view of the city, looking over the river, Old Montreal and the downtown area.

It plans to be open year-round, similar to the London Eye. However, the London Eye gives you a 135-metre view.

The 15-minute ride is said to give passengers a view stretching more than 28 kilometres.

La Grande Roue de Montreal's seats are actually climate-controlled cabins that are heated in the winter and cooled in the summer.

The 42 cabins are wheel chair accessible and equipped with display monitors, as well as a table with room for eight passengers.
