A Brampton, Ont., family, which lost six relatives in the Ethiopian Airlines crash says the nation’s authorities stated that it could take up to six months to identify the remains of their family members.
Manant Vaidya, his wife and their two daughter travelled to Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital city near the site of the crash, they said on Sunday.
The family planned to transport their family members’ remains to India for a burial ritual, but were unable to identify the remains as they had planned.
Vaidya lost his parents, Pannagesh and Hansini Vaidya; his sister, Kosha Vaidya; his brother-in-law, Prerit Dixit; and nieces Ashka and Anushka Dixit in the plane crash bound for vacation in Nairobi, Kenya.
Vaidya's family were six of the 18 Canadians which died in the crash.
