The Public Health Agency of Canada is reporting 30 cases of Salmonella Enteriditis between May 2017 and February 2018.
The Agency is collaborating with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada to investigate the outbreak of Salmonella infections.
So far, Salmonella infections have resulted in several illnesses linked to poultry, including frozen, raw breaded products.
It's an ongoing investigation and regular updates are expected.
The Public Health Agency of Canada is reminding people to properly handle, cook and store poultry, including frozen breaded chicken products, which should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 74 C. Whole poultry should be cooked to 82 C.
So far, the 30 documented cases of salmonella have occurred in four provinces: two in Alberta, 17 in Ontario, seven in Quebec and four in New Brunswick. Since the outbreak, four individuals have been hospitalized.
