People are hunting for real life treasure worth $100K in BC and Alberta

People are searching for treasure in Western Canada after three treasure chest of $100,000 each in gold and silver were hidden for someone to find.

According to GoldHunt, they’ve buried one chest in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. And, they say, yes, there really is real treasure inside each of them.

The hunt begins on June 1, 2019.

“We’re passionate about the thrill of the hunt,” says their website.

“Our team has always been fascinated by finding gold & buried treasure. Who hasn’t, right? We wanted to build something very similar to a real life treasure hunt with cryptic clues and a treasure that requires your skill and wits to find it. Thankfully, there are no booby traps.”

Included in each chest is a bonus redemption certificate. In order to claim the certificate, you must provide proof of purchase for your map. This way, they know the treasure has been found and they can start a new hunt.

Spokersperson Chris Cromwell said on the company’s Instagram that they do have a legal team that is drafting a public press release on official letterhead.

On their website they have instructions on how you can participate in the hunt. All you have to do to be eligible is to purchase a digital map. You can also purchase some extra clues to aid you, but they say that the map is all you need.

The clues consist of “hints, riddles, poems, and reference points.” You can purchase a map on their website for $25 or get a map and clues for $45. Maps will be made available on June 1, 2019.
