This remote Nunavut airport is currently the warmest place in Canada

As of 1:25 pm on Monday afternoon, Environment Canada recorded the country’s hot spot at a very remote airport in Nunavut.

The Pangnirtung Airport, which is northwest of Iqaluit, recorded a temperature of 6.8ºC.

Meanwhile, the cold spot in Canada is at the Tuktoyaktuk Airport, which is at the northern tip of the Northwest Territories.

The airport recorded a temperature of -37.7ºC.

Meanwhile, BC’s hotspot was Cape St. James with a mild 5.5ºC.

The cold spot early Monday afternoon was Fort St. John, which was recording a temperature of -25.9ºC.

Most of the extreme cold warnings issued for BC are now coming to an end as the province embraces a bit of reprieve from the blast of bitterly cold weather over the weekend.

But old man winter isn’t done with the west coast just yet.

Several snowfall warnings have been, or are expected to be, issued for more of the interior and coastal regions.

“An arctic front sweeping across the province from the north combined with a Pacific low pressure system approaching from the south will produce an extended period of moderate snow (...) on Tuesday to Wednesday. Snowfall warnings may be issued for some areas,” says Environment Canada.
