Shoppers Drug Mart is entering a third supplier agreement with a medical marijuana producer.
After signing supplier agreements with MedReleaf and Aphria Inc., the company is now taking on another partnership with B.C.-based Tilray Canada Ltd.
“Tilrays products are currently sold in pharmacies in seven countries around the world. Today’s announcement is another strategic milestone as we aim to build the world’s leading medical cannabis brand by increasing availability of a diverse range of pharmaceutical-grade cannabis products for patients in need,” said Brendan Kennedy, Tilray CEO.
This latest deal was announced Friday, and like the other two supplier agreements, it is dependant on Health Canada’s approval of Shoppers' application to be a licensed medical marijuana producer.
Tilray will supply medical cannabis products, expected to be sold online as Canadian regulations currently restrict the sale of medical marijuana in retail pharmacies.
Tilrays primary facility is in Nanaimo. According to the company, they are Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified, producing medical cannabis in whole flower, cannabis oil and capsules to patients, physicians, pharmacies, hospitals, governments and researchers in Australia, Canada, the European Union and the Americas.
