A trainer at a Canadian safari park was injured yesterday after being attacked by one of the elephants, police said.
The African Safari Park, located near Hamilton, Ont., confirmed the incident on their social media. They said that in the afternoon there was an incident involving an employee and one of their elephants.
Hamilton Police said that they responded to the call and the patient was airlifted to hospital. They added that the Ministry of Labour has been contacted.
The employee reportedly sustained non-life threatening injuries, and the elephant involved in the attack “remains with the herd.”
The park says that a full investigation into the incident is ongoing.
