Unclaimed Canadian lottery ticket worth $70M will expire tonight

There are only a few hours left for someone to avoid making one of the worst mistakes imaginable.

We’ve hit the expiry date for a lottery ticket purchased a little over a year ago for the Lotto Max draw on June 28, 2022.

Normally, an uncashed lottery ticket wouldn’t deserve media attention, but this case is a little different.

In this case, the ticket won the Lotto Max jackpot of a whopping $70 million.

Since the winning ticketholder’s lucky numbers of 8, 19, 22, 41, 42, 46, 47 and bonus 10 were drawn a year ago, they’ve been nothing but unlucky since then.

Maybe they lost the ticket, maybe they left the country or maybe the unthinkable happened and they passed away, but one thing is for sure - they have not claimed their prize.

All lottery winners in Canada have a full year to claim their prize and those 365 days are pretty much up for whoever did purchase this ticket in Scarborough, Ont., last June.

At 10:30 EDT, the ticket will officially expire and the chance for someone to claim the life-changing prize of $70 million will expire with it.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has said that if the ticket goes unclaimed, the massive sum will be returned to players through future bonus games or promotions.
