2 Canadian attractions the kids can't miss

There are a lot of amazing things about having kids, but one of the greatest perks is getting to feel like a kid all over again, too! From playing board games to spreading Lego pieces all over the living room floor, sometimes acting like a big kid is just what you need.

Luckily for those looking to go on a family adventure this summer, there are two perfect Canadian attractions that are definitely worth the trip. Treat your kids (and yourself) to a playcation in Calgary, the perfect destination for a family getaway! Filled with fun things to do and many hotels to accommodate your stay, Calgary is a perfect place to bring the kids this summer. Many hotels even offer package stays that come with discounted passes to local attractions, making it easier for families to get up close and personal with adventures in the city.

What better excuse is there to have fun experiences and try new things than wanting to create memories as a family?

Calaway Park

Calaway Park in Calgary is like a dream come true for children of all ages. Filled with kid-friendly rides, fun games, delicious fair food and live entertainment, it’s sure to be an experience they will remember for years to come.

Rides

With everything from cute carousels to crazy roller coasters, there’s a ride for everyone at Calaway. Cool off with a trip down the Timber Falls log ride, enjoy some family time on the Rocky Mountain Railroad or experience the 40 foot drop of the Free Fallin’ ride if you dare!

Food

Rides are awesome, but let’s be honest, one of the best things about going to a theme park is the tasty fair food. Calaway boasts five full restaurants, as well as several treat and food stands for guests to enjoy.

Entertainment

Some things that make Calaway Park unique are their live shows and entertainment. The park’s Celebration Stage hosts live musicals, magic shows and circus performances all throughout the summer. It’s also a normal occurrence to see stilt walkers, clowns and jugglers roaming around the park for your enjoyment.

The Calgary Zoo

Looking for another adventure that’s both fun and educational? Leave the adrenaline behind and get up close with critters from the Calgary Zoo!

The Calgary Zoo is a place where visitors can witness amazing animals in real life, and also learn about their natural environments, various conservation efforts and the importance of protecting wildlife. Your family will be thrilled by hippos, giraffes, penguins and gorillas, and leave with more knowledge and respect for these creatures than they had when they arrived.

Land of the Lemurs

One of the newest and most exciting attractions at the Calgary Zoo is the Land of the Lemurs, an interactive habitat which allows visitors to take a walk through a world similar to Madagascar, complete with the lemurs themselves!

This exhibit exists to raise awareness about dwindling lemur populations in Madagascar, and to help raise money for lemur conservation efforts.

Other exhibits and activities

Your kids will feel as if they’ve traveled around the world in a single day with incredible exhibits like Eurasia, Africa and the Penguin Plunge, and even back in time at the dinosaur-laden Prehistoric Park.

The Calgary Zoo also offers informative talks from the zookeepers, playgrounds, food vendors and more. One thing’s for sure - you’re not going to run out of fun things to do!

If you’re looking for the perfect trip for you and your kids this summer, pack up your bags and take the family on a trip to Calgary. With hotel packages connecting you to attractions like Calaway Park and Calgary Zoo (and all the family fun happening at the hotels themselves!), there are unforgettable memories waiting to be made.
