Mark your calendars, wine lovers! The Fall WestJet Wine Tasting by the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society is back for another exciting evening of local wines, tasty food and lively entertainment — with a new twist.
The bi-annual WestJet Wine Tasting event is enjoyable for everyone, whether you’re a wine tasting veteran or still trying to figure out the difference between a merlot and a cab sav. The event has become extremely popular over the years, and the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society knew that accommodating the large number of attendees required a change of venues.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Fall WestJet Wine Tasting, which will take place at the Carson Air Hangar in the Kelowna International Airport on September 29th, 2018 from 7:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m.
WestJet, the main sponsor of the event, is bringing this year’s wine tasting back to the place it knows best - YLW.
Specifically, the tasting will be hosted in the Kelowna International Airport’s new Carson Air Hangar. With the largest capacity of any indoor wine tasting in the Okanagan, the venue offers ample space for roaming, tasting and socializing.
This year’s event will boast a glamorous theme, complete with Mercedes vehicles, mood lighting and planes on display. The event isn’t necessarily suit and tie, but it’s a great chance to get a little dressed up and live the Hollywood lifestyle for an evening!
The Fall Westjet Wine Tasting will feature 80 wineries and over 250 different wines just waiting to be sampled. It’s the perfect chance to try something you’ve never tasted before, discover a new favourite and learn more about the different wineries and their passions and processes.
There will also be plenty of tasty appetizers to keep you fuelled throughout the evening.
New this year is an on-site wine store provided by Public Liquor, so you can leave with a bottle (or two) of the wines you enjoyed best.
The amazing wines may be the main star of this event, but the entertainment doesn’t stop there.
Between sips, attendees can enjoy live music by two DJs and skilled electric violinist, Kytami. There will also be performances by an aerial lyra artists and an exciting fire act.

Worried about finding a way home from the airport? Don’t be!
It’s always been extremely important to those putting on the WestJet Wine Tasting that everyone is able to get home safely. When making the decision to relocate the event further out of town, ensuring that every attendee has a safe ride home was a top priority.
The WestJet Wine Tasting is a RE/MAX Kelowna Safe Ride Home event, which means that a free shuttle service will be available to take attendees home. The shuttles will run from Lake Country all the way to West Kelowna. If you are concerned about getting home or have questions about the shuttle service, contact Okanagan Wine Festivals and they will do their best to accommodate you.
All you need to do is find a ride to the event, and you’re good to go! Drive yourself and park for free overnight until 12 p.m. the next day, or perhaps try bribing a friend for a ride with a bottle of their favourite vino — it works almost every time. As well, there will be a free BC Transit direct shuttle to and from downtown before and after the event. The shuttle leaves from the Pandosy North stop and is free both ways.
