After you’ve had your celebratory cheers, do you:
Discard your empties in the trash or recycling bin?
Return your empties to a bottle depot in exchange for money?
Donate your empties to create a career for a person with diverse abilities through Pathways Abilities Society?
Of the three options, donating makes the most significant social impact.
By donating your empties and recyclables to one of Kelowna’s three Columbia Bottle Depots, you can change someone’s life for the better while improving your community.
And we’re not being overly dramatic either.
Your donations to Columbia Bottle Depot will help Pathways create a customized employment plan that gives someone with diverse abilities a career and maybe one day, because of your donation, they’ll gain their independence.
People with diverse abilities, like any of us, are members of our community doing their best to overcome their own day-to-day obstacles and live a happier, more satisfying life.
Will you help Pathways connect with employers to create an important role that turns their diverse skills, capabilities and potential into a rewarding career? We hope so.
Because without your donations, this non-profit organization cannot help people with diverse abilities enter the workforce and become paid permanent full-time or part-time employees.
Next time you return bottles, cans or recyclables to one of Kelowna’s three Columbia Bottle Depots, tell them to keep the change… because changing someone’s life is more valuable.
Cheers to that.
Pathways Abilities Society is a non-profit organization providing services to individuals with diverse abilities in the Central Okanagan for over 65 years.
