After another efficient day of working at home, you transition from your workstation to your place of relaxation... when all of a sudden, there is an unexpected knock on your door. Surprised, you wonder if you unconsciously ordered food.
Curious about who this could be, you follow the noise towards the door. Turning the handle slowly, you open it to find… nobody there, but what you do find, is an unopened bottle of wine from Summerhill Pyramid Winery and a note.
The note informs you that your fellow Wilden resident, Jeremy Luypen, Executive Winery Chef and Director of Food and Beverage at Summerhill Pyramid Winery, has dropped off 36 bottles of Summerhill’s beloved wine at random Wilden homes and you were one of the lucky ones.
This kind gesture, along with many others, are some of the ways the people who live in Wilden are supporting each other during the quarantine.
Throughout the community of Wilden, people like Jeremy are finding creative ways to share and support each other.
With such wholesomeness being shared, we decided to collaborate with Wilden to showcase how people in this community known for Nature Inspired Living are finding new ways to discover their wild side.
Along with graciously gifting bottles of wines from Summerhill Pyramid Winery to residents of Wilden, Jeremy inspired the community to celebrate separation together.
This altruistic group of residents decided to not only love thy neighbour but to also keep #KelownaStrong.
A creative couple, Chris and Kim of the band Round Here, put on an isolated concert from the untraditional stage of their pickup truck. While playing, Chris and Kim collected donations for the food bank. Since this concert was in the neighbourhood, people were easily able to enjoy from home and later, make a generous donation. It’s nice to see a couple spread some peace and love 'round here, but they weren't the only ones sharing the love.
Wilden resident, DB, who you might remember from “Walking in a Wilden Wonderland,” decided to bring back the spirit of his favourite season and display Christmas lights on his fence. From the street, anyone who passes by is wished good health.
Thank you, DB, for spreading some joy and encouragement.
While you look up at DB’s illuminated words of encouragement, you may have missed some coloured rocks on the ground.
If you happen to see these coloured rocks, take a closer look. They have some uplifting words and phrases on them.
They were painted by some Wilden neighbours and their kids who have been placing them on trails for hikers to find, putting smiles on their faces.
You’re right, rock. Beer is good... and so is Nature Inspired Living.
The community has rallied as one by placing uplifting words on rocks, surprising neighbours with exceptional gifts from Summerhill Pyramid Winery, donating to the food bank and even spreading smiles by dropping off some flowers at your door.
The backcountry of Wilden is blooming with so many yellow flowers that are now being joyously spread across Wilden doorways.
These initiatives are making people feel welcome and supported.

Ideally-situated for families, you’ll grow next to neighbours who are so thoughtful they inspired a young man to give back to his community.
Missing his creative outlet and shop class, this young man decided to build a bench and donate half of the proceeds to the food bank.
What a thoughtful and noble act by this young Wilden resident. We salute you.
Other Wilden residents who are finding a way to sell their products include Niche Wine Co.
Niche is collaborating with local businesses to prepare weekly ’Small Batch Boxes’ that feature a collection of local goods delivered to your door. They’ve already collaborated with their fellow Wilden resident, Umami, to create a 'Spring Wine Club Box' (see below).
The owners of Fortuna Gelato, who live in Wilden, had their plans to open their gelato shop in the mall in March/April postponed so instead, they’re offering free deliveries in Kelowna.
“Their tiramisu is to die for and the new gelato flavours sound amazing,” said Wilden resident, Johanna Macheledt.
