There is no better time to jet off to paradise than in the midst of flurry season, and Kelowna International Airport wants to get you there. Through WestJet and Sunwing airlines, YLW is ready to help you ditch your toque and mitts for a swimsuit and sandals, as you adventure off to Los Cabos, Mexico.

Once you land in the region where the desert meets the sea, the abundance of activities and places to go may seem a bit daunting. So, to give you a head start we’ve compiled a quick list of cities to visit and sights to see.

San Jose del Cabo

If you and your travel buddy are all about finding the best places to eat and soaking up history, then this is the place to be.

Located on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula this city is known for its bustling historic district and culinary delights.

During the day you can soak up the sun at Costa Azul beach, or enjoy the city on foot and take in the revived colonial architecture of the Mission San Jose del Cabo Añuití.

Once you start feeling a bit peckish a visit to Flora Farms Organic will do the trick. The 10-acre farm has been harvesting bountiful hauls of produce without the use of pesticides or genetically modified seeds for the last decade, and is home to Flora’s Field Kitchen, a delicious restaurant that creates healthy meals using the fruits of their labours.

If you’re lucky enough to be in San Jose on a Thursday evening, the Art Walk is a must-attend event. Taking place in the vibrant back streets of the historic district, the Art Walk allows attendees to explore the local art galleries, sample wine and try out the surrounding restaurants.

Cabo San Lucas

Also on the southern tip of the peninsula, almost next door to San Jose del Cabo, this thriving city is a beacon for travellers who are looking for a good time.

A must-do while visiting Cabo San Lucas is to spend a day or two at Lover’s Beach. Fetch a water taxi from the marina to the beautiful paradise to see the iconic Cabo San Lucas Arch at “Land’s End”, dive into the crystal blue waters to catch a glimpse of the underwater sand cascades at the bay or simply get your tan on.

You can also make the most of your days by playing a round of golf at the Cabo San Lucas Country Club, or visit the Natural History Museum.

Your fun-filled vacation doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down. Cabo San Lucas is known for its wild nightlife and party district.

Though you can’t go wrong with any pub or club you stumble upon, for those looking to dance the night away Crush Nightspot is the place to go for loud music, and plenty of room to twirl, while Arre Mango Restaurant is the perfect place for Karaoke.

Todos Santos

On the Pacific Coast of the Peninsula backed by the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range sits this quiet town that is highly regarded for its laid back vibes, arts and abundance of culture.

To put things simply, if you’re looking for an escape, this is where you’ll want to be. The inland town offers up a different dynamic than that of the latter two, and encourages visitors to move at their own leisurely pace to soak in its beauty.

Punta Lobos Beach is a must see. The bustling shore, rugged cliffside and picturesque waves offer up a haven for seasoned surfers, and awe-inspiring views. The beach also acts as a fisherman's port, making it the place to go for the freshest catch for dinner as you’re able to purchase from right off the boats.

For animal lovers, you can spend an evening doing some good with Tortugueros Las Playitas, a turtle conservation organization that welcomes guests to help with the protection and research of the town’s native leatherback sea turtles by relocating nests, watching hatchlings and releasing them into the big blue.

The downtown core is filled with unique shops, cafes and artwork everywhere you look. From the legitimate galleries like Galeria de Todos Santos or Galeria Logan to the brightly coloured buildings and mural slathered walls, an afternoon spent walking through the streets and squares of Los Todos is an adventure of its own.

What are you waiting for? It’s only going to get colder! Head to the YLW website to book your flights and start planning your trip to paradise.
