With so many health fads in the media, it’s tough to figure out where to start, let alone how to keep up with a healthy lifestyle. The truth is that for many people, making significant health changes takes more than the latest diet or exercise trend — it requires time, practice, mindset transformations and healthy habit formation.
Making these changes isn’t always easy, especially for those suffering from health concerns and chronic conditions. Luckily, a new clinic opening its doors in Kelowna is here to help.
LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic, which has more than a dozen successful locations throughout B.C. and Ontario, has opened a new clinic right here in Kelowna. With a team of experienced kinesiologists and clinical exercise physiologists, the clinic specializes in medical fitness, clinical supervision and healthy lifestyle coaching with a focus on overall health and well-being.
The evidence-based programs at LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic are designed to help those struggling with health issues such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension or heart disease. Those who are ageing and wanting to stay active or who simply wish to proactively prevent future health problems can also benefit greatly from the program.
Cameron and Michelle Biffart, owners of LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic Kelowna which opened its doors on November 5th, look forward to helping residents live healthier, happier lives.
“Michelle and I love the opportunity to work with members who are interested in living healthier, fuller lives,” said Cameron. “We know that this is not an easy decision or commitment to make. Everyone who comes to LIVE WELL is at their own stage of this journey towards a healthier lifestyle and we love that people choose to allow us to partner with them in this process, it is very gratifying.”
Kelowna has many amazing workout facilities, which can be a great way to stay healthy and in shape — but everyone is different, and some people need more support in order to achieve their goals. Here’s what sets LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic apart.
LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic’s behavioural focus helps clients with lifestyle changes to prevent and manage chronic health conditions over the long term.
It’s not just about eliminating symptoms or losing weight — it’s about finding and incorporating healthy, lasting solutions. It’s about the consistent, small daily goals that add up to a big difference, like choosing to take the stairs instead of the elevator, being able to play with your kids a little longer, or simply enjoying a walk outdoors.
Members at LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic are there for many different reasons, whether that’s to lose weight and lower their cholesterol, to decrease their blood pressure, to have more energy on a day-to-day basis, to gain confidence or to continue downhill skiing until they’re 80 years old.
Despite being from all walks of life, everyone at LIVE WELL is there to support one another. No matter your age or the challenges you face, LIVE WELL is a welcoming place for all who wish to better themselves.
“We recognize that starting an exercise program is difficult for a lot of people. It brings with it some stresses and fears that we work really hard to recognize and assist with,” said Cameron. “Our environment at LIVE WELL is designed to make people feel comfortable and accepted, especially when they may not have felt this ever before with exercise. We start low and go slow and make sure that everything we do is well explained and demonstrated.”
“Members immediately see and feel the difference with LIVE WELL,” added Cameron. “Our members learn to love being at LIVE WELL and being surrounded by like-minded peers.”
A supportive community and attentive health coaches make LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic a friendly place for those who may have put off their health goals in the past due to mental health issues, such as anxiety or depression.
LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic can work with your physician to help you make the changes that matter the most, including both referrals and regular follow-ups.
Many members have even been able to go off blood pressure medications or reduce their insulin after participating in the clinic’s programs. By working with your doctor, the clinical exercise physiologists at LIVE WELL are able to help you make progress in a safe and sustainable way.
The minimum recommended ‘dose’ for exercise is 150 minutes per week. LIVE WELL Exercise offers programs with two, three or more exercise sessions per week. Each session is an hour long with no more than 12 members in each session.
“LIVE WELL is a medical fitness clinic that provides clinical supervision for all exercise, but our success has been rooted in our Health Coaching which is integral to every LIVE WELL exercise program,” said Cameron. “Exercise is medicine, which means that it has to be taken with the right frequency and dosage in order to be effective. At LIVE WELL, we deliver that dose of exercise with the right mix of fun, encouragement, education and inspiration — it is our delivery and culture that sets us apart.”
Kinesiologist(s) are present throughout the entire session to guide you through the exercises and offer encouragement. They may also monitor blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen and sugar levels if needed, and will be aware of any limitaions or pain that you may have and constantly check in to see how you are feeling.
Because of their attentive care, LIVE WELL Exercise Clinic will only be accepting 300 members in their new clinic, so act fast if you’re interested!
