Society for Learning in Retirement gives people a chance to volunteer their knowledge

The Society for Learning in Retirement (SLR) keeps learning accessible, regardless of age or educational background.

The Central Okanagan organization offers around 100 programs on just about every subject you could imagine, from history to hiking, painting, photography, space travel, current events and more.

It’s a great place to learn, have fun and make new friends.

Now in its 29th year, SLR brings together retired and semi-retired persons and uses the magic of peer teaching and learning.

Those interested in checking out a class can attend both in person or online, with each session typically lasting around two hours with breaks for refreshments.

They also have great volunteer opportunities, from leading a class to helping set up special events.

Work as part of a team and lend your knowledge on an array of subjects! They also accept volunteers to help set up chairs, scheduling and as classroom assistants!

You can share your gift for playing music, making art, teaching computer skills, all the while making a difference in the lives of others.
