The Sweet Taste of Local: A Rad Journey from Farm to Table
Kyla King, the creative dynamo behind Rad Jamz and Preserves Inc., has been crafting delightful jams and relishes with a splash of passion and a dash of nostalgia. With a chef’s touch and a knack for reducing food waste, Kyla turned her childhood love for preserving produce into a thriving business. Her family’s Alberta farm roots have always been a source of inspiration, making every jar of jam a nod to her past.
Teaming up with her husband, Alberto three years ago, Kyla has seen her dreams bubble up like a jar of her signature jam. Alberto, who jumped in full-time, has been thrilled to help grow their venture. Today, their jams are making waves in over 300 grocery stores across Canada—proof that hard work and a love for what you do really pays off!
Rad Jamz isn’t just about great taste; it’s also about keeping things local and sustainable. With their BuyBC licence, they ensure that everything from their produce to packaging is sourced right here in British Columbia. Their close collaboration with local farmers, like Jennay from Paynters Fruit Market just 4 km away, shows their commitment to fresh, farm-to-table goodness.
This year, they’re harvesting a whopping 30,000 pounds of zucchini for their Rad Relish line! The proximity between the farm and their facility makes it a breeze to turn those zucchinis into delicious relishes that hit shelves all over Canada. It’s all part of their fun, efficient, and community-focused approach to making great food.
