One pilot is dead after a mid-air collision during an airshow in Switzerland Sunday morning.
Two small C-42b planes collided during a demonstration of the “Grasshopper” formation. The 50-year-old pilot in one of the planes died in the crash and the other pilot was able to escape by parachute and was uninjured, according to Kanton Basel-Landschaft police.

The collision took place around 11:15 a.m. local time at the annual airshow in the town of Dittinger.
One plane crashed into a barn in the town, and the other crash-landed on the outskirts of town, approximately 170 metres apart, according to police.

A third plane involved in the formation was not a part of the accident and was able to land safely.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Swiss Safety Investigation Board.
