A tsunami warning has been issued in the Caribbean after a powerful earthquake struck off the coasts of Jamaica and Cuba.
The US Geological Survey said the 7.7 quake, which hit at a depth of 10 kilometres, was recorded at about 11:10 am PST.
Its epicentre was 117 km northwest of Jamaica’s Lucea island and just south of Cuba.
It was reportedly felt across much of Jamaica.
The International Tsunami Information Center issued a warning about the possibility of “hazardous tsunami waves” within 300 km of the epicenter.
