The cooler weather did not deter music lovers this weekend at Sun Peaks Resort.
Six time Juno award winner, Colin James rocked the outdoor stage on Saturday evening during the last summer concert series of the season.
President of tourism, Christopher Nicolson says over 4,000 people brought their coats and blankets to enjoy a great evening.
“Colin James, just a consummate professional, he’s got such a huge fan base, he’s just super, super popular. I think he just gets the mountain vibe so I think there’s a lot of people who just connect with him,” said Nicolson.
Friday night featured a rare performance from Barney Bentall and The Legendary Hearts.
“That group doesn’t get together very often as much anymore. I mean, Barney Bentall plays but they’ve all got different professions so for them to regroup here at Sun Peaks was a real treat,” said Nicolson.
About 2,500 people came out to enjoy Friday night’s performance.
This July, the resort saw their highest amount of tourists on record. While the final numbers aren’t in yet, Nicolson says they’re well on their way to record breaking attendance numbers for the month of August.
The summer event schedule continues with Peaks Pedal Fest that runs from September 5th to the 7th. The festival celebrates downhill biking with a number of events catered to children and adults alike.
Dirty Feet Running Races take place from September 12th to 13th and the Reebok Spartan Races from September 26th to the 27th.
