Nominees have been announced for the 89th Academy Awards and one movie is in the spotlight.
La La Land, starring Emma Stone and Canadian actor Ryan Gosling has tied the record for most Oscar nominations, including best picture, best actor and best actress, to name a few.
Other best picture nominees include Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, Lion, Manchester by the Sea and Moonlight.
In the past, the Academy has gotten a lot of criticism for nominating mostly white actors. Last year, no actors of colour were nominated at all. This year, that has changed, with actors of colour nominated in every category.
