When you’re faster in the water than every other human on earth, apparently racing a shark is the next step.
“An event so monumental no one has ever attempted it before,” reads the press release from the Discovery Channel. “The world’s most decorated athlete takes on the ocean’s most efficient predator.”
Phelps has said in the past that sharks are his favourite animal in the world, but no one thought that meant he’d one day race one.
No details have been given by Discovery Channel beyond the date and time of the event, which is Sunday, July 23rd at 8 p.m., but it’s safe to assume that he won’t be in any type of danger during the race.
Honestly, I'm more excited for Michael Phelps racing a great white shark than I am for the Mayweather-McGregor fight. Just me though.

Phelps has 28 total Olympic medals, 23 of those being golds, and 39 world records in the pool.
The betting odds for this monumental race haven’t been released by Las Vegas yet.
