No, you shouldn’t whip out your skis or snowboard just yet, but you can definitely start daydreaming of powder days up at Big White.
For the first time in months, and with 65 days to go until opening day of the 2023-24 season, Big White received some snow this morning.
“IT’S HAPPENING!!! Oh, how we’ve missed these views! The first snowfall of the season is officially here,” said a Facebook post from the resort this morning.
That post, with the photo proof attached, left many excited for the return of the ski season, as evidenced by the several hundred reactions and dozens or shares and comments.
While Big White is currently scheduled to open for the winter on Nov. 23, 2023, some healthy snow this fall could lead to an early start to the season, much like we saw in 2022.
The snow only fell near the mountain’s peak this morning, but it could make an appearance in the village in a few hours.
Environment Canada is calling for the snow level to drop close to 1,700 metres overnight thanks to a low-pressure system that is sweeping over the southern Interior.
Big White’s village is 1,755 metres above sea level.
