The Marlboro man has died of a smoking related disease.
Eric Lawson, who portrayed the rugged, cowboy looking man in the cigarette ads during the late 1970’s died at the age of 72.
Lawson passed away on January 10th of respiratory failure due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Lawson was a cigarette smoker since he was 14 years old but later appeared in an anti-smoking commercial that parodied the Marlboro man.
He is the third Marlboro man to die from smoking related illness.
