A Sports Illustrated supermodel showed off her stretch marks on Instagram, encouraging women around the world to embrace their own.
The #LoveYourLines movement started last week after Chrissy Teigen posted a photo of her legs along with the caption: “Bruises from bumping kitchen drawer handles for a week. Stretchies say hit!”
That candid shot has women calling the Teigen a role model for others. Hundreds, if not thousands, of women have since share their own stretch mark photos on social media, sparking the hashtag #LoveYourLines.
“OMG, I’m not the only one!! I have stretchies in the same place,” wrote one Instagram follower on Teigen’s photo.
“She’s an amazing role model. Love yourself and never forget that,” said another Instagram user.
Some of the shared photos showcase women’s stomachs while others have showed off their legs and even bums.
The 29-year-old’s photo has since garnered over 125,000 ‘likes’ on Instagram and thousands of comments.
The #LoveYourLines campaign isn’t anything new on social media. An Instagram account was started last year by two women “celebrating real women, real bodies and real self love.”
Here’s what other women are sharing on social media in support of #LoveYourLines.
Joining the movement.... I was embarrassed to post my progress picture because of my fine lines but a friend tagged me in a link about a movement of women who reminded me that these stripes were well earned by bringing life into this world not once, not twice, but FOUR times. This is an accomplishment I should NOT be ashamed of. My health and fitness progress was tough and still is. Here's to all the tiger striped momma'a out there, #BEPROUD. #loveyourlines #momoffour #fitness #proud #stretchmarks
