New family business Kelowna Rocks & Gems ready to open retail location
A local family home-based business that has had success since February is already ready to move into a retail location.
The grand opening of Kelowna Rocks & Gems will happen at 1111 Gordon Dr. on July 30.
Remy Kesslar and her father Doug Kesslar are the ones behind the store that will sell all types of rocks, gems, crystals, fossils and more.
“We will be able to offer products for any price point and any type of collector,” explained Remy. “Additionally, we will also sell lapidary supplies and jewelry making supplies.”
Lapidary is the art of working with rocks and gems and part of the Kesslar’s business will be cutting and polishing rocks to make beautiful display pieces and their own jewelry.
“We have all our own lapidary equipment and do a lot of the work ourselves,” Remy boasted.
The father-daughter duo is excited to share all of the skills they have learned over the last few years through a variety of products in their new retail location.
“We are a unique business doing something really cool and fun,” added Remy.
The grand opening celebrations on July 30 will last from 9 am until 4 pm and feature special guest Dan Hurd, who will join them from noon until 1 pm.
Hurd is famous, with 800,000 subscribers on YouTube, for his gold prospecting videos and the mine he owns that produces Ocean Picture Stone, a desirable mineral found only in British Columbia.
