1. US Senate passes new North American trade deal

The new North American trade deal was passed by the United States Senate on Thursday. The Senate voted 89-10 in favour of passing the United States Mexico Canada Agreement, which replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement. It now heads to President Donald Trump’s desk for a final signature.


2. European Union calling for universal chargers

The days of rifling through your junk drawer for various chargers may be over. The European Union is calling for universal chargers that would fit all mobile phones and tablets, even Apple products. It’s in an effort to reduce waste, as more than 51,000 tonnes of waste are produced by chargers and related products every year.


3. Eminem drops surprise album, Mac Miller’s posthumous album comes out

Two of the most notable Caucasian rappers have new music for you to listen to today. Eminem dropped a surprise album at midnight EST last night, which certainly caught people off guard. People weren’t caught off guard by the release of Mac Miller’s posthumous album, but it certainly has plenty of people feeling all sorts of emotional on this Friday.


4. Arrest warrant issued for Odell Beckham Jr.

One of the top receivers in the NFL is now the subject of an arrest warrant. Odell Beckham Jr. is the subject of the warrant, which was issued by New Orleans police on Thursday. It’s for Beckham’s actions in the LSU locker room after the team’s national championship win on Monday. Beckham slapped a police officer on the butt.


5. Supreme Court of Canada dismisses BC’s Trans Mountain appeal

At the end of the day, it was a unanimous decision. The Supreme Court of Canada dismissed BC’s appeal of the Trans Mountain expansion project. The ruling shuts down provincial legislation aimed at blocking the controversial pipeline.
