1. NBA legend and inspiration for the league’s logo, Jerry West has died at 86

Sports careers don’t get more storied than Jerry West’s. The NBA legend, who was selected to the Basketball Hall of Fame three times in his career and is the inspiration for the NBA logo, has died at the age of 86.


2. Hunter Biden found guilty by jury on 3 counts in gun trial

Hunter Biden, son of US president Joe Biden, was convicted by a jury on Tuesday of lying about his drug use to illegally buy a gun. The 12-member Delaware jury found the 54-year-old guilty on all three counts against him.


3. SpaceX retrieves space junk from Saskatchewan farms

The small town of Ituna, Sask., was buzzing on Tuesday as SpaceX employees came to town to collect space junk. At least eight pieces from various farms, some over six feet tall and hundreds of pounds, were hauled off to an undisclosed location.


4. Joey Chestnut barred from Nathan's famous Fourth of July hot dog eating contest

Joey Chestnut will not compete for his 17th Mustard Belt next month. The legendary competitive eater has been barred from the famous Fourth of July competition on Coney Island after signing an endorsement deal with plant-based food company, Impossible Foods.


5. Canadian country sibling duo The Reklaws wow judges in America’s Got Talent audition

The Reklaws have made their mark in Canada over the past several years, with several Canadian Country Music Association award wins, Juno nominations and hundreds of concerts, including an appearance at Kelowna’s Denim on the Diamond in 2022. Now, they’re hoping to build their fanbase abroad by competing on America’s Got Talent.
