1. Priest stabbed during morning mass in Montreal

One man has been arrested and Montreal police are investigating after a priest was stabbed during morning mass today. The suspect allegedly ran from the back of the rectory and stabbed Father Claude Grou while he was celebrating mass at St. Joseph’s Oratory in Montreal. Grou only suffered minor injuries.


2. The European Union has agreed to delay Brexit

The European Union has unanimously agreed to give an extension on Brexit. If a withdrawal agreement is passed by next week, the EU will agree to an extension until May 22. If it isn’t passed, the extension will be until April 12.


3. The first 16 games of March Madness are in the books

One day of the NCAA basketball tournament is in the books and there was certainly some entertaining basketball. Only three lower seeds came out victorious on the opening day, with the biggest upset coming courtesy of Ja Morant and Murray State, a 12 seed, who beat fifth-seed Marquette. Another 16 games are on tap today to close out the opening round.


4. United Airlines the 1st US airline to offer non-binary gender booking options

As of today, United Airlines offers a third option in the booking process beyond Mr. or Ms. The move is meant to accommodate non-binary passengers during the booking process. United Airlines tweeted “fly how you identify. Our new non-binary gender options are now available,” to make the announcement today.


5. Dozens dead after chemical plant explosion in China

An explosion at a chemical plant in Yancheng, China has killed at least 47 people. Another 90 are seriously injured and nearly 1,000 residents have been evacuated from the area to safety. The blast has left the area completely destroyed and investigators are still trying to pinpoint the cause of the blast, but local media have said the site produced highly flammable chemical compounds.
