1. Accused Christchurch shooter pleads guilty to all charges

The gunman at the centre of the Christchurch terrorist attack, Brenton Tarrant, has pleaded guilty to 51 charges of murder, 40 charges of attempted murder and one charge of terrorism in New Zealand's High Court. Tarrant was due to go on trial in June for his attacks on several mosques in 2019. He had previously denied all the charges.

2. US Senate unanimously passes $2-trillion economic stimulus package

The United States Senate has unanimously passed the largest economic stimulus package in American history. The $2-trillion bill is said to help citizens, hospitals and businesses deal with the surging coronavirus pandemic. A one-time payout of $1,200 for most American adults and $500-billion in loans for struggling businesses.

3. MLB teams and fans celebrate opening day while at home

With the 2020 MLB season delayed amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, teams and fans are celebrating what would have been Opening Day by staying home, reminiscing on past seasons and looking forward to when baseball returns.

4. Canada Goose factories are pivoting to produce protective medical gear

The winter clothing manufacturer is joining a number of other companies in helping to produce much-needed supplies such as hospital gowns and scrubs to donate to facilities in need.

5. Kirsten Hillman officially named as Canada's next ambassador to the US

Kirsten Hillman, who was serving as Canada's acting ambassador to the United States, has been given the permanent job as the Trudeau government's top representative in Washington.
