PHOTOS: Unique visitor greets North Okanagan fishermen

Two fishermen in the North Okanagan were treated with a rather rare encounter on Friday.

Darril McKenzie and his brother-in-law Dean Wirachowsky were fishing on Gardom Lake near Enderby when a large eagle swooped down and landed in their boat.

“It ended up on my head and shoulders,” reads the Facebook post. “Took a bite of my arm and talon holes in my shirt! A life experience for sure!”

The large bird appears to be a Golden Eagle, well known for massive wingspans that can stretch well over two metres.

The men were unsuccessful in catching any actual fish that day, but the photos do have well over 200 "likes" on the Thompson Okanagan Fishing Facebook page.
