1 week left to nominate Thompson Okanagan leaders in music

GonzoOkanagan.com has announced a full evening of celebrations at its inaugural red carpet gala for the Gonzo Okanagan People’s Choice Music Awards.

The event, originally scheduled to take place during GonzoFest, has expanded into a full night of activities on June 17 at Sunset Ranch Golf and Country Club from 6 to 10 pm.

Sydney Morton from CHBC Global Okanagan will be the master of ceremonies.

Her love for music has drawn her into the local music scene as a community reporter covering musicians, artists and creatives in the valley since 2019.

Joining Morton on stage will be comedian David Kopp and live musical performances.

The banquet style red carpet gala will also include dinner and beverages a la carte from the Sunset Ranch Golf and Country Club, table and booth displays for all aspects of the music industry, and a networking mix and mingle for fans and musicians.

Since March 1, over 500 nominations have been submitted, with more expected to roll in before the March 31 deadline.

Nominations can be made for musicians, bands, music industry leaders and music venues of the Thompson Okanagan here.

Voting reopens on April 10 with the top three nominees from each of the categories.

The winners will be announced at the gala, which is a community initiative that brings musicians and their fans together.

“It’s a way of telling the musicians and music industry in general, we see you, we hear you and we want to recognize you,” explains Brad Krauza, the event organizer.

Tickets to the gala are $20 per person and go on sale on April 10. Food and drinks are not included in the ticket price.
