Just after 2 pm on Feb. 8, officers were called to the lake after receiving a report that an 18-year-old male had fallen through the ice around the Raven subdivision and Sandy Point area.

The Salmon Arm Fire Department, BC Emergency Health Services and Salmon Arm Search and Rescue attended the scene and as of Saturday evening, the search for the teen was ongoing.

“At this time we, are asking the public to stay off local lakes as the conditions are currently unsafe despite the cold temperatures,” said Staff Sgt. Simon Scott.

“We urge increased precautions if anyone is interacting near icy bodies of water.”
