(UPDATE: Sept. 21 @ 12:20 pm) - The search for a man who was presumed to have drowned in Lake Windermere has come to a tragic end.
The 26-year-old, who has since been identified through a GoFundMe and social media as Hussein Omairi, disappeared into the lake on Saturday afternoon.
The GoFundMe, which has raised nearly $20,000 to initially help with the search and will now go towards funeral costs, said Omairi fell off a boat.
On Tuesday, police said he was presumed to have drowned and his body has since been located and recovered.
"Our condolences go out to the friends and family," said a release from the BC RCMP.
Omairi's death is not considered suspicious and the BC Coroner Service is conducting its own investigation.
