2 Men charged with first-degree murder after police ID body found in Fraser River

Williams Lake RCMP, the North District Major Crime Unit, and the BC Coroners Service have confirmed the identity of a body found in the Fraser River on August 27th.

According to police, the identity has been confirmed as Branton Regner, a man who was reported missing following an incident on the Rudy Johnson Bridge on August 9th.

On Wednesday, the BC Prosecution Service charged Jayson Gilbert and Michael Drynock with the first-degree murder of Branton Regner. The two also face one charge each of attempted murder and kidnapping.

"The rapid progress of the arrests and multiple charges involving these two accused are a direct result of the collaborative investigative effort between Williams Lake RCMP and the North District Major Crime. These investigations are ongoing and continue to be a priority within our community." Said Insp Jeff Pelley.
