A school bus with 25 students on board slid into the ditch while leaving Chilcotin Road Elementary School yesterday, Feb. 3 in Williams Lake at the end of the school day.
All students were taken inside the school and checked by paramedics before being released to their parents and caregivers.
"One student was referred for further medical screening out of an abundance of caution," wrote School District 27 Superintendent Cheryl Lenardon in an email to the Tribune.

She described the incident as a "slow-speed slide from the road into the ditch."
Counsellors are on site at the school today to check in with the students involved, and parents are encouraged to reach out to the school's principal Doug Brown if they have concerns now or in the future.
"Thank you to parents and caregivers for their prompt and calm response to pick up their children. We know that an incident such as this can be scary and may even trigger feelings from past experiences," Lenardon wrote.
She also thanked the school's team, the transportation team and the paramedics for handling the situation with care and efficiency.
