BC officially extends ban on indoor dining, group fitness activities and more

After a week of speculation, health officials have extended BC’s ban on indoor dining as well as several other restrictions.

The order, which came into effect on March 30, also prohibits indoor adult group fitness activities and indoor worship services.

Premier John Horgan said the latest round of public health restrictions will remain in place until at least May 24th.

“Over the coming five weeks through to the end of the May long weekend, it is critical that we focus our efforts to follow the guidelines,” said Horgan.

The announcement arrived along with several new restrictions on travel in BC.

As of Friday, April 23, police will be conducting random "roadside audits" and issuing tickets to those caught outside of their health authorities' region.

It also includes plans for cancelling ferries, travel bookings, camping reservations and installing new border signage.

Additional details about the order are expected to be released later this week by Dr. Bonnie Henry and BC’s Public Safety Minister.
