“As more people become eligible and more vaccines are approved, we will continue to update our provincewide program, including integrating people 12 to 17 years old, now that the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine has been approved for use in this age group," said Dr. Bonnie Henry in a written statement.

“With additional supply now available, we’re accelerating our delivery and we also need you to do your part. We all need to register to reserve our spot and book our vaccine as soon as we are eligible."

Earlier on Wednesday, the province announced that four road checks will be put in place by RCMP starting on Thursday as part of British Columbia’s provincial ban on non-essential travel.

The road checks this weekend will be located at:

  • Hwy 1 in the Boston Bar area
  • Hwy 3 in the Manning Park area
  • Hwy 5 in the old toll booth area
  • Hwy 99 in the Lillooet area

Those who refuse to do so may face fines under the Emergency Program Act.
