Here's a province by province breakdown of Canada’s COVID-19 case numbers

It appears BC is beginning to see the inevitable “second wave” of COVID-19 cases that Dr. Bonnie Henry forecast upon entering Phase 3 of the province’s recovery plan.

On Monday, July 13, health officials announced that a total of 62 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the province since Friday.

In Quebec and Ontario, Canada’s two epicentres for the outbreak, officials announced 109 and 111 cases respectively.

However, for the country as a whole, case numbers have remained relatively stable as the calendar cruises through July.

Here’s how total cases, deaths and recoveries from the virus break down for each province as of July 14:

  • Quebec: 56,730 - 5,633 - 26,025
  • Ontario: 36,950 - 2,723 - 32,785
  • Alberta: 8,826 - 161 - 7,989
  • British Columbia: 3,115 - 189 - 2,718
  • Nova Scotia: 1,066 - 63 - 1,002
  • Saskatchewan: 871 - 15 - 766
  • Manitoba: 325 - 7 - 317
  • Newfoundland and Labrador: 262 - 3 - 258
  • New Brunswick: 165 - 2 -149
  • Prince Edward Island: 35 - 0 - 27
  • Yukon: 11 - 0 - 11
  • Northwest Territories: 5 - 0 - 5
  • Nunavut: 0 - 0 - 0

Canada's first case was discovered on January 25, nearly two months later the country surpassed 1,000 cases.

The drastic spike in daily case numbers followed that, doubling to 2,000 cases in just three days before doubling again to 4,000 cases by March 26.

Before the end of April, there were 30,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Canada.
