Another 10 new cases of COVID-19 were announced by Interior Health (IH) today.
It brings the total number of cases in the region to 727 since the start of the pandemic, with 91 cases currently active and no one in hospital.
That last stat, however, is unfortunately due to the fact that a man in his 70s has died at a BC Interior hospital from COVID-19.
It’s just the third virus-caused death reported by the health authority since the start of the pandemic, the first since late April.
“This is a sobering reminder of how deadly COVID-19 can be and on behalf of everyone at IH, we extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends who lost their loved one,” said IH’s daily release.
“I would like to thank his care teams for the support and dedication they provided to him, and for their commitment to all of our patients during this difficult time.”
IH also provided an update on the status of the École de L’Anse-au-sable outbreak in Kelowna today.
Another case has been linked to the school, bringing the total to 16.
In addition, around 175 people have been directed to self-isolate for 14 days as a result of this exposure.
