It was another difficult weekend for British Columbia with regards to COVID-19 and the BC Interior was no exception.
Interior Health reported 212 new cases of the virus since Friday, bringing the total for the region to 1,750 since the start of the pandemic.
There are now 490 active cases in the region, which is an increase of more than 400 since exactly one month ago.
Hospitalizations continue to increase in the region as well, with 15 people now hospitalized due to COVID-19 and five of them in the intensive care unit.
A new outbreak was declared at Mountainview Village in Kelowna today and it’s the first time in the BC Interior that a resident of a long-term care facility has tested positive for COVID-19.
On a positive note, the outbreak at Sun Pointe Village in Kelowna was declared over this past weekend.
