There were 217 new COVID-19 cases identified in the BC Interior over the weekend.
According to the BC Centre for Disease Control, there were 48 new cases on Saturday, another 81 on Sunday and 88 reported today.
Unfortunately, there were also two more COVID-19 deaths over the weekend, one at Heritage Square in Vernon and another at McKinney Place in Oliver.
Unfortunately this brings the total number of people who have succumbed to COVID-19 to 40 and our condolences go to their loved ones and caregivers,” said Susan Brown, Interior Health’s president and CEO.
“We continue to see COVID-19 in communities all across Interior Health and everyone needs to remain vigilant in following precautions to minimize the spread of this virus.”
There are currently 36 people hospitalized due to COVID-19 in the BC Interior, with nine of them in intensive care.
