(UPDATE: Dec. 3 @ 12:20 pm) - Unfortunately, there are still four people in the intensive care unit due to COVID-19 in the BC Interior.
On Wednesday, the health authority reported that that number had dropped to zero, but issued a correction shortly after noon today.
"A data reporting error resulted in incorrect information provided on the COVID-19 Update distributed to media at the end of day on Dec. 2," IH said today.
"The correct number of patients in ICU in Interior Health yesterday was four. Eighteen patients were in hospital and four of those patients in ICU."
IH will provide a new daily update for today later on this afternoon.
(Original story: Dec. 2 @ 7 pm) - There were 834 new cases of COVID-19 reported in British Columbia over the past 24 hours and 66 came from the Interior Health region.
The health authority confirmed that number this afternoon, which brings the BC Interior to 1,899 total cases since the pandemic began.
IH currently has 570 active cases.
There are still 18 people in hospital due to COVID-19, the same number as Tuesday, but the positive news is that the number of people in intensive care dropped from four to zero.
Another bit of positive news is that the outbreak at Orchard Manor in Kelowna has been declared over with just a single case linked to it.
Today, Dr. Bonnie Henry also addressed an adult beer league hockey team that traveled to Alberta for a tournament recently.
Somewhere along the way, a large portion of the team contracted the virus and has spread it throughout their community upon returning home.
New public health orders banning adult team sports like curling, hockey, basketball, soccer and more are expected to come down soon.
